Last year, Panasonic threw us for a loop by introducing an unbelievably tiny Micro Four Thirds system camera, the GM1. By cramming a larger sensor into an interchangeable lens body no bigger than a deck of cards, Panasonic had brought forth a camera that was the best of both worlds: Though the tiny camera could be carried everywhere, it offered a much better image quality than any compact camera or smartphone.
