August 10, 2007 - Pentax has announced its first quarter results, showing net sales of 40.85 billion yen, an increase of 15.1 percent over the first quarter of 2006.

"This is mainly because the digital camera sales of the Imaging System business remained steady both at home and overseas," stated the report.

Sales of digital SLR camera and accessories improved, growing 21.2 percent in the Imaging System business on a year-to-year basis to 21.09 billion yen. Operating income spiked to 1.25 billion yen in the Imaging System division, amounting to a 317.4 percent increase over the first quarter of 2006.

Quarterly net income per share totaled 10.53 yen, up from 2.68 yen per share in Q1 2006.

Revisions and changes have been made to Pentax’s financial forecast based on their first quarter results. Due to high sales in the Imaging System division, Pentax has raised its yearly sales forecast to 81.8 billion yen for the first half, and 170 billion yen for the entire fiscal year. Operating income is now projected to total 1.9 billion yen for the first half, while net income is expected to amount to 1.4 billion yen for the first half.
