April 4, 2006 – *With the onslaught of spring rebate programs, Pentax announced its Your Choice program on three of its Optio digital cameras and 12 of its smc lenses. From April 1-July 6, 2006, when consumers purchase a lens, they can receive a mail-in rebate for $50-$100. That deadline ends June 30 for the digital cameras, which bring in a $30 rebate.

"Pentax has manufactured over 24 million lenses in the last five decades because we believe that for every assignment there needs to be a lens that matches each photographer’s style, amateur and professional alike," said Ned Bunnell, Pentax’s director of marketing, in the March 31 press release. "With our lens rebate program, you can choose the Pentax system that’s best for you."

If consumers aren’t in the market for interchangeable lenses, but need a sturdy digital camera Pentax is offering $30 rebates on three of its models. The original flagship of the waterproof line, the Pentax Optio WP, is up for grabs now. The Pentax Optio WPi and Optio M10 are also eligible for the cash rebate. The cameras must be purchased between March 1-June 30, 2006 to receive the $30. The Pentax Optio WP has 5 megapixels and originally retailed for $399, but sells for much less now that it’s over a year old. The 6-megapixel WPi retails for $349 and the M10 is Pentax’s entry-level option at a $229 retail price.
