*February 14, 2006 – *Nik Software, the software imaging company formerly known as Nik Multimedia, Inc., has just announced a collaboration with Nikon on digital imaging software and technology in exchange for capital investment.

President and CEO of Nik Software Michael J. Slater indicated that the deal is mutually beneficial for both companies, "We look forward to working with Nikon to build a strong digital imaging software business by leveraging both our companies’ proprietary technologies and photo-imaging know-how."

Nik Software has already developed Nik Color Effex Pro, a Nikon capture software plug-in. This new deal will make more Nikon proprietary information available to Nik Software, allowing for detailed capture software with greater capabilities. While Nik will continue to distribute its own products, the products developed through this deal will be distributed worldwide by Nikon.

Nikon’s capital in Nik Software is the first external investment in the privately-held American company since its conception in 1995.
