May 17, 2006 – Fujifilm announced a hundred-dollar price drop for the FinePix E900, a 9.1-megapixel compact digital camera. According to results from the DigitalCameraInfo.com testing lab, the E900 took great pictures with exception sharpness. Its resolution and noise suppression are top-of-the-line and its low light and color performances were decent. Fujifilm lowered the original retail price of $499 to a more affordable $399.

Yesterday’s price drop announcement comes right in the middle of the spring rebate season, when most manufacturers offer cash back or other savings to move older inventory and promote new products.

The Fujifilm FinePix E900 offers manual controls and a short list of scene modes. Natural Light, Portrait, Sport, and Night are the scene offerings on the camera. The E900 may have great image quality, but its on-camera features are quite basic. This FinePix has a 4x optical zoom lens and a 2-inch LCD screen with 115,000 pixels. The camera’s movie mode does not have image stabilization, but the optical zoom lens does work while recording video.
