Tiffen Filters The Choice of Professional Filmmakers Worldwide
Tiffen Circular Polarizer Sunglasses for your camera

Tiffen Circular Polarizer

Polarizers provide color and contrast enhancement. Reflected light often shows up as whitish glare that washes out color in an image. A Polarizer corrects this problem producing deep, dramatically blue skies. It also removes glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as windows and water. Color saturation in general, especially outdoors, can be improved significantly. Think of it as sunglasses for your camera.

A Circular Polarizer has the same effect as a Polarizer and is used on cameras with beam splitting metering systems commonly found on auto focus SLR's (for most 35mm auto-focus cameras see your camera manual).

Area of sky most effectively polarized with a Circular Polarizer: Point your index finger at the sun. With your thumb extended at a right angle (90°), rotate it around the axis of the index finger. It will point out the band of deepest blue from horizon to horizon.

Taken with Tiffen Circular Polarizer

Think of it as "Sunglasses for your camera".

I have never used a polarizer, and wanted to start being a little more pro in some of my shots. I took it out for a good 2 hours of shooting flowers, bees, trees, people, and cars. As many of the reviews, from more knowledgeable people than myself, have stated, this is a learned item. You cannot just put this on the front of your camera and go on to business as usual, or so I found out. You definitely need to tinker with the settings to adjust for the added darkness that is generated to lense. During that hour or two of shooting to run the polarizer thru some paces, I ended up tossing quite a few more photos from the SD card. Many were blurry or too dark to fix.The photos I ended up keeping, were very good, and did send a few out to my friends for approval. So when the right mix of shutter speed, ISO, etc. are used in conjunction, the polarizer does a good job. I think mounting the camera on a tripod for landscapes with polarizer affixed will yield some better results. I like to move around and shoot many subjects and the polarizer is definitely an extra something to think about and adjust, which is a little more difficult when you are on the hunt for something interesting that springs up quick. For twenty dollars, this is a good training tool before possibly spending more on a supposedly more pro polarizer. Throw it in your bag and add it to your tool list. I'm keeping it, and will continue to master it, hopefully. I want to give this a better grade than 4, but I'm not competent enough to give it a 5 or even a 3. Try it out!!

I use a Nikon D3100, I bought a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens. That lens has 58mm threads. I bought the 58mm Tiffen Circular Polarizer filter to use on that lens. At the time of my order it was sold and fulfilled by Amazon. I paid for shipping and received the filter in less than four days. The filter came in a hard plastic box that I use for storing the filter. It looked new and works fine. No filter problems and I give it 5 stars. The only issue is screwing it onto the lens is a bit tricky because you only have half the width to work with but I blame that on my fingers and lack of any real nails. I have noticed that if the filter doesn't go on straight it may make a glare effect but when I see that, I rescrew it on and that takes care of the issue.

    Amazon está decepcionando ultimamente.
Recebi hoje o produto. Produto chegou aberto (não sei se ele vem lacrado de fábrica) e com um risco profundo na lateral (aparenta ser defeito de fábrica), mas está apresentando resistência ao girar o mesmo.

It's an awesome product.. Cuts of almost all of the glare.. Faced some trouble when using it with reflections..
Although it comes with pretty good build quality i still feels like it's a little bit over priced..
Brings out the contrast in pictures..
A must and essential accessory for every photography enthusiast..
