November 16, 2004 – Samsung announced the release of the Samsung V6 yesterday. The 6-megapixel digital camera was announced in August for $399.99. The V6 is the latest in the Samsung V Series and one of three models being released for the 2004 holiday season.

The Samsung Digimax V6 has a 3x optical and 4x digital Schneider zoom lens. It supports TIFF, JPEG and DPOF files for still images, as well as AVI and WAV files for movie clips. The V6 has standard manual, shutter-priority, aperture-priority, movie, night scene, portrait, program, and easy modes. With these automatic and manual modes, the V6 aims to be a versatile camera that allows beginners to develop their photographic skills. The camera does aim to be versatile in other ways too. The V6 supports nine different power sources, including AA alkaline, CR-V3 Lithium, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, Ni-Mn, Ni-Zn, SRB-1437 or SBP-1103 rechargeable Li-Ion batteries or an AC adaptor.

The camera does attract beginners with fluffy features such as the customizable startup sound and image and the three customizable shooting profiles. It is compact and lightweight at 7.8 ounces. A super macro feature lets the user photograph subjects as close as 6cm from the lens. The attached 1.5-inch LCD monitor contains 115,200 pixels.
