November 22, 2004* – Olympus sponsored the sixth annual Fashion Acts charity auction that benefits people affected by HIV and AIDS. The digital camera manufacturer handed out Olympus C-760 Ultra Zoom cameras to several celebrities and encouraged them to snap shots for charity. Celebrity photographers include Bryan Adams, Gillian Anderson, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson and Bill Nighy, to name a few.

The photos range from still life shots to portraits and candids and are surprisingly good. Emma Thompson seems to have a knack for photographing boots. Dave Benett snapped some shots of George Clooney and Brad Pitt at an Ocean’s 12 party. Mario Testino captured a close-up of Kate Moss’ face. Paul McCartney’s daughter, Mary McCartney Donald, gave some photographs of brightly lit flowers. Donald is not a stranger to Olympus sponsorship. Earlier this year, she tested out the Olympus E-1 digital SLR for the company. She followed the British Royal Ballet for several months before displaying her work in October and giving away her Olympus E-1 in a contest.

Forty-two photographs are up for grabs on ebay.co.uk/charity from November 23 to December 10. The photos by the amateur photographers have been professionally framed and matted.
