October 14, 2004 — Unfortunately, there will be no Sony DSC-T3’s under the Christmas tree this year! Not in America anyway. Sony released an official notice stating that the Sony DSC-T3 will not be available in the United States, contradicting the August announcement for the stylish digital camera. The model was posed to succeed its widely popular predecessor, the Sony DSC-T1. However, a Sony spokesperson says the DSC-T1 is still a strong seller. Apparently, the T1 outlived the industry’s average 12 month lifespan. The T1 was originally announced in October 2003, so its continued popularity is surprising considering the capricious market.

Looking toward the holiday season, Sony decided it had a solid competitor in the DSC-T1 and had released enough products with the Sony DSC-L1, DSC-V3, and DSC-M1 to make a dent in holiday shoppers’ pocketbooks this season. Sony’s spokesperson said the T3 will be released in Japan, and there are currently no future plans for release in the United States.
