March 8, 2005 *— In step with the fashion-friendly European scene, Casio Europe announced black-colored camera bodies for the Casio QV-R52 and Exilim EX-Z57 yesterday. This same color change was made to the Casio Z55 about a month ago. Now all of these cameras are available in both silver and black. The Z55 was introduced as a "Black Panther" and the recently announced colors are "Black Metal." The Casio Z57 and QV-R52 will be available in April 2005.

The black Casio EX-Z57 does not differ from its silver twin in specifications. The Z57 has 5 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.7-inch LCD screen — all packed into a sturdy aluminum body. One of its better features is the long-lasting battery life; the Z57 can take about 400 pictures before needing a recharge.

Casio’s QV-R52 also has 5 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom lens, but a smaller 2-inch LCD screen. Twenty-one scene modes and 9.7 MB of internal memory round out the digital camera that is hailed for its quick one-second startup time and minimal shutter lag time.
