March 10, 2006 – BenQ announced six new digital cameras to its portfolio, two of which received iF Design Awards at the CeBIT show in Germany. The BenQ X610 and E520+ received the prestigious honors with their slim casings and large viewing screens. All six of the new releases also have a shake-free mode that reduces blur. Prices and availability have not yet been released.

The BenQ X610 has 6 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a huge 3-inch LCD screen that boasts 230,000 pixels. It also has 2 levels of brightness and a wide viewing angle. Ben Q claims that the X610 is the world’s thinnest digital camera that has a 3-inch LCD screen with its 19 mm thickness. The digital camera can shoot VGA video at a 30 fps rate. This model follows the original X600, which also has 6 megapixels but a smaller 2.5-inch LCD screen. The new BenQ X610 has on-camera buttons to activate photo editing functions like trimming, resizing, rotating, and color filters.

The 5-megapixel BenQ E520+ has a 2.5-inch LCD screen with the same 230,000 pixels of resolution. It has a Pentax smc 3x optical zoom lens and is slightly thicker at 22 mm. It houses 32 MB of internal memory and has the same movie mode as the X610. The E520+ has a lithium-ion battery that can take 250 shots per charge.

Other BenQ releases include the E600, P500, C530, and C630 digital cameras. The E600 has 6 megapixels and a tiny lens in its larger lens barrel that supposedly reduces zooming time. The P500 has a Pentax smc 5x optical zoom lens and pairs it with 5 megapixels and a 2.5-inch, 230k LCD. The BenQ C630 and C530 have 6 and 5 megapixels, respectively, and 2.4-inch LCD screens. Tyey both offer 3x optical zoom lenses as well.
