March 29, 2005 — Adobe announced plans for a photographers directory today. The new directory will be largely populated with photographers from the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), who is collaborating with Adobe on this project. The listing of professional photographers will be "accessible directly from within Adobe’s creative professional products," stated today’s Adobe press release.

The Adobe Photographers Directory will initially include professionals from the United States and will expand to other markets over time. The directory will allow designers to find photographers by geographic location or specialty and will include sample portfolio images. The ASMP has a directory very similar to this, but will differ from the Adobe version in that it will add more photographers and will provide access from future product offerings.

"Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite have brought the digital image into the heart of creative workflows as our customers deliver compelling content to print media, the Web and emerging mobile platforms," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Digital Imaging and Digital Video at Adobe. "When creative professionals are searching for that perfect photograph that reflects their vision, they should be able to find it within the tools they rely on most. That’s our goal with this directory."
