June 6, 2005 - *Olympus has announced a 30 day trial for the newest version of their Olympus Studio RAW image viewing and management software. The software is targeted specifically at the Olympus E-1 and E-300 models.

According to the manufacturer, Olympus Studio is multi-purpose software and, "can be used for managing/viewing/high speed RAW developing of images and for controlling the camera."

The software is being targeted specifically for users of the E-1 5.5 megapixel Digital SLR camera and the E-300, an 8.0 megapixel digital camera.

As with any trial download, the manufacturer has built in safeguards against a user downloading it again after the trial date has expired. "You cannot download any of ‘Olympus Studio Trial Edition’ again if you already terminated upon the expiration of term of ‘Olympus Studio Trial Edition,’" according to Olympus. The manufacturer of course recommends purchasing the software if consumers wish to continue using it.

The Olympus Studio trial can be used in PCs running Windows Me/ 2000/ XP (IEEE 1394 interface), Windows 98SE/ Me/ 2000/ XP (USB 1.1 interface) and Windows 2000/ XP (USB 2.0 interface) with Pentium III 500MHz or higher processor. Mac users with OS 9.1 - 9.2.2/ X 10.1.3 - 10.3 (IEEE 1394 (FireWire)/ USB 1.1/ USB 2.0 interface) and Power PC G3 500MHz or higher processor can also run the Olympus Studio software.
