I have been using SLR cameras since the 1960s and consider myself a very experienced user. For many years I worked as a part-time wedding photographer and have been published many times in magazines and books. I have used digital cameras since their inception and currently have DSLRs from several companies that I use daily.

So much for my credentials.

The Olympus PEN E-LP1 is a great camera and I highly recommend it. I have used earlier models of the PEN series and always found them lacking. Not so with the E-PL1. Every criticism I had with earlier models has been addressed.

The micro4/3 lens mount is a wonderful bonus for anyone who has lenses from older film or digital SLRs because the E-PL1 can use them with very inexpensive adapters.

The highest compliment that I can make is that I use one every single day. It has become my "carry" camera.

I love it!

This is the first interchangeable lens camera I have owned. I initially wanted a DSLR from Nikon or Canon, but in the end I went with this camera based on one premise- size. I figured if it was with me more, I would use it more, and I do. It has exceeded my expectations. It has great depth of field and fantastic picture quality. There are great options on the interface. If you want to have some better pictures than a point and shoot, do some more interations with f stops and shutter speeds, get this camera. You wont be able to start a pro-biz with this camera, but you'll definitely get waaaay better pictures than with a point and shoot. here's a pic I took on the auto function from Kerry Park in Seattle on a cloudy day. Zero adjustments in camera or on the picture. And a picture of my dog.

Wonderful Upgrade From Point and Shoot

I am an Olympus and Canon DSLR user who decided to get this camera as a smaller alternative when I don't want to take my DSLR with me.

That said- this is an awesome camera. The picture quality is amazing. The pictures are sharp and crisp even in inside-lighting. The video quality is also excellent.

One of the things I like best is that the camera is small but still has some weight to it. I've found light superzoom cameras are hard to hold steady to take pictures with the LCD screen. This camera, however, has enough weight and size to balance out longer lenses and still hold the camera steady.

I recommend this camera for anyone who wants to move up from a point-and-shoot or DSLR users who want a smaller alternative but still high-quality images.

This camera has amazing image quality! If you want to get this camera Walmart is the best place to get it. I had my concerns with buying online from Walmart but I was VERY impressed with there service! My camera came on time in perfect condition! I would definately go with walmart for this one: Free shipping, cheaper price, good service, better return policy; Where can you go wrong?

Amazing Camera!

I bought this camera because I wanted something more sophisticated than my point & shoot but not as overwhelming as a big DSLR. The size & weight are perfect.
While I am still learning how to use it the photos I have taken so far are lovely.I love the art filter & nature macro filters. I still have a long way to go...

FABULOUS CAMERA

I have had many cameras before and this is my first SLR camera...its compact and easy to use. Im still learning all of the functions but really like the size of it. I was deciding between this camera and the Canon Rebel XS but I am really glad I bought this one the outside shots are really good and natural looking! Love it!

Great Camera!

This camera did quite well in most situations, but the flash was a bit useless. It's too small of a flash to do much good, but luckily the camera does quite well in most situations without it. I was pretty impressed with the picture quality and the ease of use, but I'm still looking for a bit smaller camera.
